Birchbox March Teen Vogue Edition Review

Hi everyone!!! As I recently 'twit' about, today I received my Birchbox March Teen Vogue edition.  This is the first 'beauty box' I subscribed to.  I knew about it from Elle and Blair's Twitter, so I decided to give it a try.  I really like the products that came in it, honestly I was expecting things that sadly I don't use, or to small that I would have to run to buy the full size if I like it. But no! They came perfect.  Right below the pictures I shortly described every product.  Smile :)

- Here you can see how it came in the mailbox, cute huh? And then when I opened it, pink kept coming everywere!! :D

- Here you can see the box before and after I opened it.  Now you can imagine how excited I was when I saw the things that came with it.

- 1) tarte | Lip Surgence (TM) lip tint:  color: Joy.  It is a really pretty color, looks like coral and it is highly pigmented (looks clearer in the picture because I took the picture in direction of light).  It goes really smooth!! I just love it because it looks like a lipstick but feels like a lip gloss.  Perfect!!

- 2) essie | luxeffects: this a glitter top coat to layer on any color.  Don't tell me this isn't gorgeous!!! I can't wait to use it.  I really love it!
- 3) Shiseido | Pureness Oil - Control Blotting Papers: coated with transparent rice powder to leave face shine - free.  Believe it or not, I was looking for good blotting papers to invert in because my skin tends to look oily when times goes by in the day.  So this came as a glove for me! I am really happy!

- 4) Annick Goutal | Petite Chérie: French fragrance sample with a blend of fresh fruity notes and musk.  Smells reaaally good!
- 5) ModCloth Exclusive Offer: 10$ off with a purchase of 75$ or more.  Personally I love ModCloth so this is a great offer for me!!

As you can see, the items were really cute and useful.  I am happy with every one of it!! And Birchbox charges only 10$ a month (flat - no additional charges), so for me is pretty affordable and worthy.  I hope you like it. XO's

OOTD - #2

Hi everyone!!! Promised, is debt!  So here is my second OOTD (for the first one click here).  I am wearing a lace blouse from Forever 21 (super cheap, like 9$), a Guess cardigan (20$ sale), some black pumps (my lovelies, they have almost two years with me I just love them like they were brand new), and faux leather leggins which I bought from eBay (22$).  I wanted to do this OOTD because I fell in love with my faux leather leggins. I was looking for them and all that I could found was really expensive.  So I went to eBay (my salvation) and found these bargain for like 22$ (shipping included) so I gave them a try and they went really good!!  As you can see I was not wearing lots of jewelry, not because I don't like them, its because (curiously) I don't tend to wear jewelry at all, even when I am a jewelry maker!! Hahaha how weird it is, right? (for my jewelry at Etsy's click here).  So I thought this outfit, mixing lace and leather, could turn out really edgy and chic. I decided to add the cardigan to soften the look (even if it's a bright color) and the black pumps to enhance the bold look at the same time (kind of balancing the outfit).  I really like how it turned out, I hope you like it as well!!  Also, I wanted to apologize for the lack of creativity in my pictures, I came home late that day and was alone so I couldn't approach better pictures, I tried my best! :(  Ps: Next time I'll try to be less boring. Smile :)

'Nude Shoes' Madness!

Hi everyone!!! I just wanted to do a short post about nude shoes.  I think these are amazingly beautiful and have the potential to turn every outfit suitable for the red carpet.  It doesn't matter if its with a gown, LBD, a short dress, some leather pants and a blazer, celebrities just add a nude heel, pump or bootie, and go straight to red carpet runaway.  So, I handpicked some of my favorite ones just to give you an idea of what possibly could do a nude shoe for you!!  I remembered I once used a long sleeve dress in orange and red colors with some nude heels like those indicated by the arrow, and it went amazing! I hope you like these, and I am looking forward to do an OOTD post today at night or tomorrow, so stay tuned.  XO's. Smile :)

In the eye of Fashion!

Hi everyone!!! I'm still pretty sick, but, I could not keep letting you down! So here I am with today's post.  Indeed I'm pretty excited about this post because I was looking for what I could write about and suddenly came to my mind the 3 perfect trends that are in the eye of fashion this year.  I started by imagine every piece and a gorgeous outfit just to cheer you up!! You should be asking yourself which are the 3 pieces, so the first one is: blouses with exposed shoulders (my fav!), skirts that go shorter in the front and long at the back, and dresses with exposed waist or cutout waist.  How amazing are these 3 pieces!!? Even if they are not combined in the same outfit, these three are such cute and trendy pieces that will show off the best of every body.  So don't be afraid to use these beauties.  I hope you guys like these and enjoy them as much as I did. Smile :)

Don't forget to follow me on Twitter @maytessentials.  I am really excited to tell you that Nicole Richie is a follower of mine, so lets turn this into a big pretty family! Thanks for yor support XO's.

Please tell me how girly and fabulous these blouses look!

Aren't this lovely?  Imagine yourself with one of those, a simple blouse (or even a exposed shoulder one) and some booties, wedges, pumps, or even ballerina flats.  BRILLIANT!

cutout dresses
Now please take a closer look!!! Don't tell you're not dying for one of those!!  They look so gorgeous!!! Emma Watson surely leave us speechless.
Ps: Emma Watson's dress supposed to be a light gray but when I passed the picture to Polyvore it came out wrong, but it'll also work great in white haha! (to see the original picture click here).

Inspiring Jewelry!

Hi everyone!!! This is a quick/short post to let you know that I have some products available at Etsy's.  This is a place where you can buy and sell handmade and vintage things.  As I mentioned in my Giveaway Coming Soon post I do some jewelry so here I have some pieces available.  Check them out and leave me some feedback.  I do many more and many different styles but right now I am a little short on time so when I finish this test bench I will go back to making some more.  I really hope you like them!! Smile :)

Beauty Ideas!

Hi everyone!!! I am supposed to be studying because I have a test on Monday of about 14 PP presentations, yes, a lot!!  But, I was on my hour break and I decided to make a short post about some beauty gurus that has inspired me not only to get some of the hair and makeup products, but to know some of their beauty and hair ideas as well.  I just wanted to share them with you for you to check if you like them and find them useful.  Please notice that I am not receiving any benefit from this, this is just my opinion.  My favorite ones are Mimi and Leyla from Luxy Hair and Everything Luxy.  They are two sisters that have awesome videos about hair and makeup tutorials, including OOTD.  The second ones are Elle and Blair Fowler from All that Glitters 21 and Juicy Star 07 (and their internet page Elle and Blair).  They are also two sisters that have not only tutorials but a lot of variety of videos about decoration, books, and almost everything else.  Today I discovered another one that is about to reach my favorite top 3!  She is Nika Jabiyeva from Pirouette Makeup.  I saw her video about How to: Perfect Face Contouring and I just love how sweet she is and the great ideas she gave on the video, so I subscribed to her channel for more beauty and hair ideas.  These 5 girls, are successful indeed.  Leyla and Mimi are owners of a company of hair extensions named Luxy Hair; Elle and Blair have their own collection of cellphone accessories named Cellairis; and last but not least Nika have her own '100% cruelty free luxury brush collection' named Pirouette Professional.  So there you have some great channels to check!!! I hope you like them.  What other beauty gurus do you use to watch?? Smile :)

I couldn't say 'bye' without mentioning Lauren Conrad.  She is one of my biggest inspirations.  I love her fresh style and her always gorgeous wavy hair.  You can visit her at Lauren Conrad.

Top Picks for the Weekend!

Hi everyone!!! As you all know, spring is coming, so everything floral and pastel comes to life splendid this season of the year.  As I always said, you can give any outfit your own personality twist and make it special and unique.  So for this post I tried to collect some inspiring ideas for the weekend introducing spring but giving it a different touch.  I hope you enjoy it, but one thing I do not like about doing this type of posts is that when it comes about joining some pieces for an outfit, the prices comes out so high that we get discouraged.  BUT, here comes the important part of giving an outfit our OWN touch.  Just get the idea and make it yours!!!!  You don't have to go shopping like crazy for new trends or feel sad because you can not afford them; just pick pieces in your wardrobe that would help you achieve the outfit and that would make you feel comfortable and happy with yourself.  Smile :)

PS: if you noticed, I tried to pick up some affordable pieces. Hope you like them as much as I do!

For the day:

welcoming Spring!

For the night (with friends or a date):

night out: friends/date

I hope you like them, don't forget to feel free to leave any comments!!

Giveaway Coming Soon!!

Hi everyone!!! Please notice that this is not the giveaway but the announcement of a giveaway I am planning to make for you to participate.  I am pretty new here (since February, 2012) and as you can notice, I rarely post more than once or twice a week; that's because I am a full student that wakes up at 5:30a.m. and comes back home at 6 or 7:00p.m.  Literally, I feel exhausted.  Anyway, I try my best to keep "A little bit of this, a little bit of that" up, up!!!  This is why I came with the idea of making a giveaway as soon as I reach my first 50 followers (or suscribers).  As I recently told you, visitors are increasing and I am so excited for that!!!  II DON'T know YET what the prize would be, but I am thinking about a jewelry piece (made by me), or a makeup/beauty product.  In addition, I DON'T know YET what would be the base of the contest.  BUT, as soon as 50 followers became closer, I will be telling you the details of the giveaway.  For now, I would like to let you know some basic rules:

- Profiles made only for giveaway purpose will NOT be considered (you have to own a real blog)
- Please, do not follow me only for giveaway reason, I promise you this blog will fulfill your expectations.

Also, I would like you to send me some ideas for the contest.  Send me possible questions, surveys, or anything creative, for me to consider.  I would love your help!!! Smile :)

Getting Organized!

Hi everyone!!! I get so happy every time I enter my blog because the visits are increasing and makes me feel so glad to know that you take your time to look up at my blog and enjoy what I am posting with love and enthusiasm for you.

So as you should know one of the hardest part of organizing your day is trying to get along with your clothes, jewelry, and stuff.  This is why I decided to post about tips and ideas that could help you get organized.  I would like to emphasize about clothes and jewelry.  Probably all of us have closets and chest drawers to store most of our clothes, so we don't have to worry about it.  But if you have a small closet and/or bedroom, like I do, you probably have some of your clothes around the room without a place to store them (do not panic, I do not have clothes all over my floor or down my bed haha).  To solve this 'little space' problem, I bought some extra storage drawers for all that clothes that doesn't fit well in my small closet.  -Another idea is store your clothes in other closets available on your house or apartment.-  In my case I get this plastic drawers in pink and green.  They look really cute giving my room a playful touch, and providing me an extra space for all the clothes that were outside my closet.  In addition, I used them to store jewelry making materials, books, and papers for college.  They are a great, cheap, and colorful idea to add some extra space to your room.  I also get a white small one (as they come in almost every size) to store some of my jewelry inside the splints of my closet.
ps: please note that I do not attached the link of where I got this picture because it was not a site to bought them, it was a random site that had the more accurate picture of what I got to store my stuff

To store the other part of my jewelry I bought a hanging jewelry organizer (which is the best inversion I've ever made to store my jewelry).  I put all my jewelry in there and find the organizer a corner in my full closet.  It helps me get rid of a lot of jewelry boxes in my dressing table.  I highly recommend you to get one of this, it also helps a lot if your traveling because you just have to fold it and it would save space in your suitcase.  You can get them at eBay or Marshalls; there is a variety of colors and patterns that goes really lovely like the one of the picture (which I got from eBay, here is the link).

Another idea to store them is a jewelry armoire.  This could be expensive but is a great decoration idea because it looks vintage and you can place a picture frame or a small plant (like a cute bonsai) on top of it to add some extra decoration.  Also this piece would store almost every piece of jewelry you posses because it is a bigger item.
I get this picture from eBay.

Exploring at Urban Outfitters I found a lot of gorgeous ideas for storage and decor at the same time.  I just love to share them with you because they are my favorite ones and I know you are going to like them too!!! I will attach every single link for you to access them.  Enjoy these beauties!

Links (in the same order as the pictures):

ps: I do not receive anything from anyone for posting these pictures, this is not promotion, it is MY OWN opinion.

I sincerely hope you like and try some of the ideas I shared with you!!! Smile :)

And the Award to the "Must Have Product" goes to...

Hi everyone!!!! I feel like I haven't blog in a long time (one week), that's unacceptable; but college leave me with no other choice than study, sleep (sometimes), and eat: not more not less.  But I confess that I totally love to blog and that I have a lot of ideas in mind to share with you in A little bit of this, a little bit of that.  Without further ado, the Award to the "Must Have Product" goes to: POREfessional from Benefit.  Congratulations!!  In posts like this one I will give an award to a product of makeup, clothing, jewelry, and/or just anything which posses the characteristics to be a "must". I discovered Benefit recently, just 2 or 3 months ago.  I was looking for a good primer product for my face because my pores are big and noticeable.  I have tried many primers and foundations but my pores still look significant after applying them, and they keep me feeling uncomfortable with the way I see my face.  So, looking for a good product that could help me, a friend of mine (Ana), introduced me to Benefit; and I finally found what I was looking for.  I know that you're probably thinking (if you previously knew about this product) that POREfessional is not technically a primer; instead it is a face balm.  POREfessional is exclusively designed to reduce or minimize the appearance of pores in the face.  It can be applied under or over makeup and it goes smooth on face matching your color skin because it is translucent.  It also contains vitamin E, that protects skin from free radicals (which cause skin deterioration and dehydration).  To tell you more, the famous sisters: Elle and Blair, added POREfessional to the list of their February Favorites in a video featuring Blair Fowler. Also, a blogger-ist friend Laura-Jayn features POREfessional TWICE in her blog: Laura-Jayn For the makeup and nails obssesed.  Everyone just love this product, the only mishap is that it costs 29$ the 0.75 US fl. oz. balm.  Although it is expensive I definitely recommend that you give it a try because you are not going to regret; and you don't even need to apply a big amount.  Another strategy that I use to not finish the balm so fast is that I only use it when I am going to an activity or a place that requires that my makeup (face) looks impeccable.  For daily I use another primer which is not even half good as POREfessional and cost me 14$; so I will definitely prefer POREfessional.  I encourage you to try this product, please go  to Benefit Cosmetics site, to Elle and Blair's site, and to Laura-Jayn's blog for extra reviews about this EXCELLENT product.  Hope you like it. Smile :)

Here a line from the review of Laura-Jayn:
"Anyway, I absolutely adore this product. It’s extremely lightweight and takes all shine away from the skin leaving it looking really nice and its feels ridiculously soft. It makes my foundation look flawless and I love it"
- Laura-Jayn

Pictures were taken from Benefitcosmetics.com (they ARE NOT mine).

If you have tried this product, tell us what you think about it; or if you know another great product that also deserves this award feel free to tell us.
