Dare to Wear : Blazers!

Hi everyone!!! I decided to named this post: Dare to Wear.  In posts like this one I am going to give you some trendy ideas that you should dare to wear.  Today's Dare to Wear is Blazers.  You should probably think that wearing blazers would give you a formal and "off to work" look.  But this is not always what you can get with them.  Although yes, you are going to look formal and kind of 'serious', they would give you a polished look and would make a simple outfit appropriate to go outside almost to every place.  There are multiple options that you can consider when talking about a blazer. They come short, long, oversized, classic cut, embellished, with/without buttons, with/without pockets, and many more.  And the best part of it is that you do not have to spend a lot in them, because Forever 21 has a lot of options in great prices.  Feel free to grab them in a bright color (like red or green) and wear them with pale or dark colors (such as beige, black or white).  They are a great piece to wear with a plain tee, jeans, and booties or pumps (make sure to add some nice jewelry).  Also you can wear a LBD (little black dress) and add up a short blazer and heels to give the look a sophisticated twist perfect for a date night or to just hang with friends.  Try them long and loose with a short dress or skirt with ballerina slippers or flats for everyday outfit (college, school or to go shopping).  And.... if you do not like blazers at all, you can always try cardigans which comes in many fabrics, from lace to wool.  They would give your outfit an instant cute and/or feminine look.  Particularly, I like them in black, and loose.  I wear them with a pretty blouse and shorts, for a fresh look; or with a simple blouse and jeans, for a sport look.  In one of the books I talked about in one of my posts (Book Club), Style from Lauren Conrad, there are several ideas that can be used to approach different looks with blazers.  Dare to wear them, you would not regret.  Smile :)

Hi everyone!!!! I got some really awesome pictures to show you this time.  I took this pictures in Joyuda.  A place in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico which is characterized by its coastal beauty and awesome sunsets. I was with my family in a restaurant placed in Joyuda, where we eat some really good and affordable sea food, when I could take these splendid pictures of the sunset.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.  How beautiful is our Planet, right?  Let's take good care of it and pass the love and care-message along our friends and family.  Smile :)

Hi everyone!!! As I mentioned, I am a Biology student.  How can a Biology student have a blog without any Biology posts?  So here is the first one.  This post is about the components of the cell wall of bacteria.  There is a staining procedure known as Gram stain, that uses a series of dyes and reagents (as iodine and water) to stain the cell wall of bacteria, allowing us to identify and classify them in two groups.  These are Gram + and Gram -, the first one stains purple, and the second one red .  The bacteria in each of these groups stain different because of the structure of their cell wall.  Gram + bacteria have an abundant amount of peptidoglycan; a polymer of sugars and amino acids that forms a layer outside the bacteria constituting their cell wall.  This polymer, also known as murein, confers the bacteria with resistance and protection because it acts as a strong virulence factor.  Gram + bacteria also have teichoic acids on their cell wall, that gives them extra protection against phagocytosis (the process in which white blood cells or phagocytes engulf an antigen, in this case bacteria, and subsequently eliminate it).  By the other hand, Gram - bacteria have less concentration of peptidoglycan on their cell wall.  They reward this deficiency with lipopolysaccharides on their cell wall which are toxic.  These lipopolysaccharides (LPS), also known as endotoxin A, are made of lipids (as the name suggests) which are not good inductors of the Immune System of our bodies.  Due to this characteristics they are specially dangerous when the cell wall undergoes lysis.

Why do we have to know something like this and pay extra attention?  Suppose that we have a human (women are at greater risk) with an urinary infection caused by cross-infection of Gram - bacteria (commonly E. coli in the rectal tract that can reach urinary bladder through the vagina).  If a lytic breakdown is taking place and all of the Gram - bacteria that where taking part of that infection break, all the endotoxin A or LPS is released into the bloodstream; causing what is known as an endotoxic shock.  This is known as an immune-physiologic chaos in the body.  It activates all body's coagulation system indefinitely, in a manner that it runs out.  Here the person can suffer an hemorrhage and regrettably die of a DIC (Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation).  This process occurs and we do not realize what is happening in our body.  So NOW YOU KNOW A VERY GOOD AND IMPORTANT REASON not to miss any undetected infection (or what seems to be an infection) on your body.  Is important that we visit a doctor to help fight, in the correct way, any microorganism that can invade us.  Even if I know that you are scared (as I first was) after knowing this: Smile :)

Hi everyone!!! This post is about a cosmetics brand named NYX, which is one of the greatest brands I have tested with REALLY (and when I said really I mean it) affordable prices.  Rarely I order products from their site, because even if the order would not be expensive at all, the shipping charges would cost me a fortune (sometimes more than the product I would like to buy).  NYX offers free ground shipping when you buy 50$ or more, but believe me, they are really affordable so you would have to buy multiple products (that you probably don't need) to even reach fifty bucks.  For this reason I use eBay, that is one of the best options when I want to buy something that I know would cost me a fortune in shipping charges, because I do not need that many products to reach their free shipping offer.  One night looking for makeup (yes! at eBay) I found this great offer which I can not let go.  6 NYX Round Lipstick for less than 20$, new (there are 4$ each at NYX site)!!  EVERY color available, and a seller with 100% positive feedback.  What I was waiting for?  This product is one of NYX's best seller (click here).  So I bought them, and now I am making this review about them so you can discover new, good, affordable products.  First of all, the colors are amazing, there are multiple variations for almost every color you have ever seen in your life (I am not kidding, there are 168 colors available!!!).  When you wear, them the color looks exactly as it is presented in the bottom of the lipstick.  They are really smooth, and soft.  You are not going to feel your lips dry over time.  As for duration of the color, they would give you the exact time you need to wear an awesome color and show it off.  I strongly recommend you to try this product along with other NYX products and/or cosmetics, because they are pretty good quality products that would make you feel satisfied with the money you spent.

Here are some shots I took of the colors I bought, and an example of some other colors available (at the eBay offer).  In the picture you are going to notice that instead of 6, there are 7 NYX Round Lipsticks.  That is because they are also available at Walmart and I bought another one (Chloe, my favorite so far) there. I can not say goodbye without mentioning I also bought (at Walmart) NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, that is a "lipgloss" without the "gloss".  It goes matte on your lips and is also a great product of NYX cosmetics.

OOTD!!

Hi everyone!!!! OOTD means Outfit of the day!! Every time I wear an outfit that inspires me to share it with you I will take some awesome pictures (or at least try to make them awesome), and post them.  This outfit has something vintage in it, but also something very contemporary.  I wear a beige silk blouse with some black leggings, a short skirt over them, and some high heels (bootie style).  I wear it with a skirt because the blouse was too short to wear it with leggings only.  So if you have a longer one you don't need to put a skirt on.  Another nice modification would be wear the blouse only with the skirt; this would give the outfit an instant formal look.  I did my hair in a high bun and wear some big, but not long, earrings.  In addition, you can wear it with flats, boots, or ballerina slippers to make it more casual.  I hope you like it and modify it your way to give this OOTD your own personality twist.  Feel free to share any pictures and/or opinions of any OOTD. Book Club

Hi everyone!!!  As getting to know me, I am a College student with a lots of reading to do through all the semester.  But sometimes, I just need to relax and read a book just for fun, or what we can call: recreational reading.  This month I ordered two books that I was interested in.  The first one was recommended to me by a Professor in College who gave me Cell Physiology last semester, and the other I bought it just because I love following her and all her fashion trends.  I am talking about: Your Inner Fish by Neil Shubin, and Style by Lauren Conrad.  Completely different readings, right? Well, as you should thought I am a Biology student, but part of being woman is caring and improving on your appearance.

Your Inner Fish is a great book in wish we can learn and discover to many things we did not know about our ancestors and our evolution as animals (mammals).  This books helps to understand how our body works the way it works.  It is based on DNA and fossils examinations made by the author and his work team.  It is developed in simple reading (with integrated pictures and diagrams)  for everyone to understand, even if you're not a science student, or not interested in science at all.  By the other hand, Style, is a guide that offers every girl (teenager or woman, but mostly woman) hints and ideas of how you can approach a nice style (as the tittle suggests).  Not all the ideas are for everyone, but you can put plenty of them in practice. As we know Lauren Conrad is a big fashion icon so it is going to be helpful in many ways.  Best of all is that you can get new ideas and give them your own style according to your personality.  Most of the time that's the way things turn out better.
